Stimulus bill makes HR changes

There’s a good rundown of some of the key HR changes in the recovery bill available at Manta. Among the highlights:
- Changes in COBRA make businesses responsible for paying 65% of the coverage costs for terminated employees. You’ll be reimbursed by means of a credit against your payroll taxes. Most important — this is retroactive, applying to any employees terminated as far back as Sept. 1, 2008.
- The tax changes mean you’ll need to adjust your withholding — work with your payroll service to make sure you update your checks by April 1.
